The first children ever to attend WCPS have had a busy first week at school, and a lot of fun.
Enjoying their spacious and colourful classroom, the youngsters have been looking at the story of Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School, making ‘childrenosaurus’ dinosaurs and using the Purple Mash web tools to paint pictures of dinosaurs.
They’ve also been drawing self-portraits and using iPads to take pictures of parts of their faces to make a montage ‘guess who’ of face parts!
By the end of this week they have learnt to write and say the first four sounds of the Read Write Inc program and learnt to count and write the numbers 1 and 2.
The weather has been great, so the children have also been able to use some of the new play equipment in the outdoor area.
On top of all that activity, they have had their school photos taken, been to a Key Stage 1 assembly in the main hall, had their first PE session and tried a week of school dinners. Some of them even sang in the first choir session.
We are sure they will all have a good rest at the weekend and be ready to enjoy more learning next week.
