Year 2 had a great World Book Day celebrating their love of reading. They enjoyed writing their own character descriptions, innovating traditional tales and using drama to act as their favourite characters. Alex shared his thoughts on the day, "World Book Day is so great because you get to dress up and tell others why you really like the book your chosen character is in”. Lilly-May added, “I’m Elsie from the Ice Monster and I’ve been so excited to tell everyone all about her personality. I hope I can persuade others to read the book too!”.
After hearing the winners of our own 200 word story competitions in assembly, we were very proud of Aiden for his fantastic Greek-Myth style piece. He was very pleased with his achievement “I loved having the chance to use my imagination and write about anything I wanted”. The children have spent the week exploring well-known fairy tales as part of our current project. Ava-Mae said, "I'm really excited about writing my own traditional tale and sending it to Blue Peter, I love reading and want everyone to as well, so hopefully someone will enjoy reading my story”. Jaxon was extremely enthusiastic about the day, “World Book day is such a good day. I love seeing everyone’s costumes and what books they’ve brought with them”. Year 2 are looking forward to next week’s author visits and reading some of their favourite stories to each other over the coming weeks.
